Our Story: The Shuttle Driver Who Invented the Dream First™ Pillow Bag

Before launching Solhaven, I spent 16 years co-owning Scott's Airport Shuttle with my parents right here in New Zealand. Every single day, we helped thousands of travelers get to and from the terminal - business flyers, families on holiday, and frequent fliers living out of their suitcases.

And over those 16 years, I noticed a fascinating, consistent pattern: the pillows.

People were constantly carrying their home pillows bare through busy airport terminals, tucked under their arms, stuffed into flimsy supermarket plastic bags, or awkwardly balancing them on top of rolling luggage. They weren't being dramatic. They were simply comfort-focused travelers who knew one universal truth: sleep matters immensely when you travel.

Finding a Better Pillow Carrier for Travel

As someone who traveled frequently myself, I deeply understood the exhaustion of early departures, late arrivals, and the physical toll of constant movement. I also knew how much smoother a holiday or business trip feels when you actually get a deep, restful night of sleep.

Yet, carrying a loose pillow through an airport always felt incredibly awkward and unhygienic. No matter how nice the destination is, clutching a naked pillow exposes your clean bedding to dirty airport security bins, x-ray conveyor belts, and airplane floors.

I searched everywhere for a high-quality pillow travel bag or a protective pillow carry bag that was built for the realities of modern airline transit.

Solhaven wasn't born from a fleeting trend. It was born because a practical, elegant solution simply did not exist on the market. I couldn't find a dedicated pillow bag for travel that I would actually want to carry into an airport terminal or luxury hotel lobby.

So, I decided to create one.

Crafting the Ultimate Luxury Pillow Tote Bag

Armed with my mum's exceptional sewing skills and a simple, purposeful idea, we set out to design a proper home for something that matters to your sleep health.

We didn't just want a plain sack; we wanted an elevated, beautiful travel accessory that made bringing your pillow feel completely seamless. We spent hours perfecting the design, adding premium gold hardware, smart internal compartments, a custom travel pillow bag with zipper track, and a unique folding mechanism that slides smoothly over any standard suitcase handle.

The result is the Dream First™ Pillow Bag-a premium pillow tote bag built by someone who actually needed it, designed explicitly for people who refuse to compromise on their sleep comfort, no matter where they land.

Thank you for supporting our New Zealand small business journey. Here’s to arriving rested, staying organized, and traveling smarter!
